Tequila 101 [infographic]

Tequila 101 [infographic]

I’m one of the few people that can actually handle tequila. Perhaps its my hispanic background that allows me to consume any type of tequila with out it completely annihilating my personhood the next day. Whatever the form or drink, I’m usually the only person to willingly request tequila. I usually take it in shot form (the lime and salt just give it the smoothest flavor!) or I’ll take it easy and request extra in my margarita. Even though my favorite liquor is tequila, I’m sad to say that I don’t really know much about it.

Thankfully, this infographic has enlightened me on my favorite liquor. After checking out today’s infographic, I have determined that my favorite type of tequila is tequila oro. However, I am now curious of how tequila anejo and tequila extra anejo taste. Perhaps I’m not the tequila lover I boasted myself to beEither way, I’m inspired to try out these new tequilas during these next few spring months. I encourage you to do the same! Secrets Of The World’s Oldest People [Infographic]

April 16, 2014 | by Erich Scholl | Health, Lifestyle | No Comments

What is the key to immortality- is it achievable? This question has been hot on the minds of human-beings for eternity. I’ll save you some time- the answer is no. About the closest thing to achieving immortality is being a supercentenarian (not to be confused with “super-saiyan”) which is the term for someone who is 110 years or older. It seems quite difficult to become a supercententarian there are currently only 65 known worldwide. Is there a method to achieving this hallowed state? Is there a path we can all follow to unlock the sagely gifts of supercentenarianism? Let’s find out.

Well first off, 62 of the 65 known people over 110 are women, so you men out there are already fighting an uphill battle. Beyond that, people who exercise often and have smaller body frames are more likely to live longer. Enroll in a water aerobics class! Furthermore, plant-based diets and being socially active seems to help in becoming super old. Also, being a farmer is a common trait of centenarians- which makes sense because it seem like every farmer I’ve ever met is really, really old. Geographically speaking, I assumed most centenarians would live somewhere cold (because meat spoils slower in the fridge, duh) but most centenarians have actually lived quite close to the equator.

All jokes aside, it seems the most important factor is genetics. Centenarians are 20 times more likely to have had a relative who also lived to a very old age. So what it essentially comes down to is luck. After all- the oldest person to have ever lived, Jeanne Calment, smoked for 100 years. So smoke up, and never pass on an opportunity to eat a Big-Mac- cause you probably aren’t going to live as long as the people in this infographic. [Via]

How to Choose the Right Job [infographic]

April 15, 2014 | by J.P. Blackard | Business, Lifestyle | No Comments

Let’s not pretend like we have a dream job or like we are super successful because we are not there yet. I actually have another year to go before I finish college and then I’ll have to make some real choices. However different our situations, everyday our lives change in some small way whether we realize it or not. Everyday we are put into situations where we have to make a choice that will affect us and our future. It’s important for us to make the choice that makes us happiest and if not the most happy at the very least content.

We all have an idea of where we want our career to go. But which job will you take to get you started on your journey? Do you want a job in a large firm where you are likely to get over looked by management or do you go for smaller firm that will allow you more representation but in the end be less stable? Or maybe you want a job where people can do their own thing and not be tied down by rules.

Personally, I feel pretty comfortable with picking a job based on the title though. Above all else, one should take pride in the work they do. Of the seven reasons listed to consider when deciding on a job, the first step is to get rid of the ones that go one the bottom of the list. [via]
